why did you start writing?

i was a lonely teenage girl on youtube who stumbled across the poem ‘when the fat girl gets skinny’ by blythe baird. if you haven’t heard this poem yet, open a new browser and watch it immediately. it changed my life and i wrote to escape everything in my head. now i write not just for me, but for us, in the same way that blythe did for me.

do you perform live?

i do! performing live is probably my absolute favourite thing to do, poetry related. i am based in england and perform almost everywhere, soon to be internationally! check out my upcoming live shows here.

how do i start writing poetry?

write in the way you would breath. do not think too hard about it, be raw and emotional and real. let everything flow from your brain into the pages. rhyme, don’t rhyme, immerse yourself in other poets work, get inspiration from everything that surrounds you. it might not come easily at first, but in my opinion the best sort of poetry is clunky and unedited and genuine. writing poetry is one of the hardest things you can ever do, until you do it and then it is the easiest thing you will have ever done.
